2 JCD men beaten up by BCL activists on DU campus
Two activists of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) of the Dhaka University were allegedly beaten up by the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus this afternoon.
Mahmudul Hasan and Zobair Ali, activists of Ziaur Rahman Hall and Kabi Jasimuddin Hall units of JCD respectively, were beaten up by a group of BCL men at the Raju Memorial Sculpture in the afternoon.
The two took first aid from Dhaka Medical College Hospital, reports our DU correspondent, quoting the injured.
"Some BCL men appeared on the scene and suddenly started chasing us while we were chitchatting at a tea stall near TSC," Mahmudul, one of the injured, told The Daily Star.
He added that the BCL men caught them up near the Raju Memorial Sculpture and started beating them there indiscriminately.
Denying the allegation, DU BCL General Secretary Tanbir Hasan Shaikat claimed that it was an altercation between some BCL and JCD men.
DU Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani said he heard about the incident from multiple sources, including JCD men, but none gave them the identities of the involved persons.
Urging JCD men to come to the campus and attend regular classes, the proctor said they will take measures for their safety.
