Reopen all educational institutions except primary schools, NTAC recommends
The National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 has recommended the government to reopen all educational institutions for children aged 12 and above as the coronavirus transmission significantly declined in the country.
The recommendation was given at a meeting with Education Minister Dipu Moni tonight.
"As the Covid-19 situation has improved significantly, we have recommended reopening educational institutions now maintaining strict health protocols and ensuring double-dose vaccines for all students," Dr Mohammad Shahidullah, NTAC president told The Daily Star following the meeting.
There was no recommendation on reopening primary schools, he said.
When asked about the reopening date, he said that the ministry will decide on it.
Meanwhile, the education ministry will hold a press conference at the secretariat at 11:00 am tomorrow in this regard.
Earlier in the day Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said the decision on reopening all the educational institutions would be given after the NTAC tonight.
