JU Day being observed marking 53rd anniversary
Jahangirnagar University (JU) Day is being observed amid festivities on the campus today marking the 53rd founding anniversary of the university.
Over 500 jubilant former and current students of different departments, teachers, employees and officers joined the daylong programmes with colourful banners, balloons, and festoons, reports our JU correspondent.
The programme started with the hoisting of the national flag as well as JU flags and releasing balloons in front of the business studies faculty around 10:00am.
Puppet shows, a cake fair, football match, drama and other cultural programmes organised by Student Welfare and Counselling Centre of the university are scheduled to take place at the Selim al Deen Muktamancha.
JU was founded on August 20, 1970 and formally began academic activities as a residential university on January 12, 1971 with four departments, 21 teachers, 150 students and three residential halls.
