RU student sexually assaulted: Case filed

A case has been filed yesterday (August 24, 2022) afternoon with Boalia Model Police Station in connection with the sexual assault of a third year student of Rajshahi University.

The case was filed under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against an unnamed accused, the victim confirmed to The Daily Star.

According to the case statement obtained by The Daily Star, around 8:00am on Tuesday (August 23, 2022), the girl was on her way to give private tuitions from university campus. When she reached the city's Bashar road area, an unidentified youth aged around 25-26 years suddenly held her from the back and assaulted her sexually.

Later the accused ran away when she started shouting, the case read.

Earlier she had lodged a written complaint on that day, with the university authorities seeking justice.

While talking to The Daily Star, the victim said, "I don't know him personally, but he seemed to be a local. I can clearly identify the man."

Proctor Prof Ashabul Haque said, "We have already instructed an assistant proctor to assist the victim."
