There'll be no problems on the campus: SUST VC at founding anniversary event
Thirty days since the anti-VC protests by students at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) began, its Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed participated in an official programme through celebrating the 31st founding anniversary of the university.
The national flag and the SUST flag were hoisted and a wreath was laid at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of SUST's founding anniversary this morning.
Later, a procession was brought on the campus and the day was celebrated at Muktamancha by cutting a cake.
Apart from the VC, teachers and administrative staff were also present at the programme. The students demonstrating against the VC did not take part at the event.
At the event, VC Prof Farid Uddin said, "We have all been working together to cover the students' academic losses during the pandemic."
He also said, "I'm calling upon the students. You will continue your studies in the way you did earlier, we are with you always. I can firmly say that there will be no problems on the campus."
Meanwhile, protesting students are selling flowers on the occasion of SUST founding anniversary, Pahela Falgun and Valentine's Day. The students said that they will spend the proceeds for treatment of the students who were injured in police action on January 16.
Also, the students organised a photography exhibition of the images taken during the police action.
