The government today (May 17, 2022) asked North South University authorities to sell 10 luxurious cars through bidding and deposit it to the university general fund.

NSU authorities bought these cars in between January 2019 to January 2022 with cost of Tk 27.05 crore. The car price ranges between tk 1.1 crore to Tk 2.9 crore, said officials.

The Secondary and Higher Education Division in an order asked NSU Vice-Chancellor Prof Atiqul Islam to sell the cars, saying that according to the Private University Act 2010, each private university should have a general fund.

A university can spend that fund to meet the expenditure of that university.

But authorities spent the money on head that was not related to education and research purpose, said the order.

The university authorities should sell the cars through open bidding process and deposit that money to general fund.

The authorities should inform that matter of depositing the money to the fund to Education Ministry and the University Grants Commission, said the order.
