Unexpected Moments of Happiness You Get as a University Student
Stressful, tiring and at times unbearable to the point where you would just want to give up. University is definitely the most important and difficult stage of you academic life. Classes, assignments and the fear of not living up to your expectations make university life the little pit of hell it is. Despite the hardships you go through, there are often moments that give you joy and often a sigh of relief as a university student. These moments may seem insignificant to others but to you, they are sure to mean a lot.
When the class ends early: Sitting through a lecture of one and a half hours is sure to blow a fuse in your head at some point of your university life. Matters get worse when the lecture is boring to its core and it's almost at the end of the day. At such situations nothing can be more blissful than to hear your lecturer end the class earlier than scheduled. The remaining class time may not be enough to put into some good use, but getting out of the class early is a huge relief in itself.
When the class gets cancelled: A bigger joy than having your class end early is having it get cancelled. An entire lecture cancelled can not only make you shed tears of happiness but can also give you the opportunity to do something else or just spend time with your friends. However, if you're someone who came a long way to your university, barely surviving the devastating weather to attend the only lecture you have that day and you find out that the class got cancelled, you're sure to curse your luck.
Grade Bumps: Keeping up a good grade is not always possible for most students. Especially when the difference of .5 can change your grade from 'excellent' to 'why do I even bother?' Teachers are mostly strict when it comes to grading your script but there are times when they feel considerate enough to give you a grade bump when you miss a higher grade for one or two marks, turning your grade from a 'B' to an 'A-.' This unexpected increase to your grade is often the highlight of your entire semester.
Appreciation: Be it from your parents or your mentors or even your peers, being appreciated for your academic performance is always overwhelming. No matter how big the achievement is, getting appreciated is always a boost to your motivation as you feel inspired to achieve and do more.
Sleep: University is bound to get your sleep routine messed up. You will find yourself staying up late at night to work on your assignments or to just to study. Often, you can't sleep even after getting yourself on the bed because of all the anxiety and worries that come complementary with the university life. In such drastic times, sleep is unexpected and hard to enjoy which makes it somewhat of a rare pleasure for university students.
