Four-day conference of RUMUNA held

The closing ceremony of the conference of North Bengal, Rajshahi University Model United Nations took place on November 28 at the Senate Building of Rajshahi University (RU). The inaugural programme of the four-day conference took place on November 25.

This time, the theme of the MUN conference was 'Invigorating the culture of innovation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution'.

In the closing ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Rajshahi University, Prof Golam Shabbir Sattar was present as the chief guest. As the special guests, Assistant High Commissioner of India, Sanjeev Kumar Bharti, and the Chief Advisor and Professor of Marketing Department of Rajshahi University, Prof Dr. Shah Azam were present. The former General Secretary and present member of the Trustee Board, Fahimul Islam Khan Rafi, was the guest of honour. 

Rajshahi University Model United Nations Association (RUMUNA) organised the conference for the sixth time. They dedicated the event to the Mujib centenary. The inauguration was held at the Engineering Faculty Gallery of M A Wazed Miah Academic Building. 

"This is certainly a great platform for students to practice versatile cultures and improve themselves. I am glad to be here today and hope that the upcoming conference brings great success to the institution," mentioned Sanjeev Kumar Bharti.

This year's  Model UN conference has been organised with a total of six committees, including United Nations Security Council (UNSC), United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO), Specialized Committee for Bangladesh Affairs(SCBA), and the International Press (IP). 

The agendas of each committee have been decided by the main theme. This year's topics were created with the students in mind so that they can garner more interest in the fourth industrial revolution. The committees were conducted at Jagadish Chandra Bose Bhaban, Syed Ismail Hossain Siraji Bhaban, Rabindranath Tagore kola Bhaban, Deans Complex and TSCC Bhaban.

Nearly 300 students from close to 50 educational institutions of Bangladesh are going to participate in the conference as representatives of different countries.
