A man was killed allegedly by his son as he refused to allow a female worker to continue her job at his factory at Lalbagh in the city yesterday, police said.
The dead was identified as Mohammad Shahjahan, 45, owner of a net-bag factory at Horonath Ghosh Road at Lalbagh. His son Akram Hossain used to help him run the factory.
Lalbagh police quoting FIR said Shahjahan had an exchange of heated argument with Akram at around 10:30pm on Tuesday over the job of Akhi, a female worker, at the factory.
Duty officer of Lalbagh Police Station said Akram had an affair with Akhi.
Shahjahan tried to dismiss Akhi because he could not approve of their relationship.
At one stage of the argument, Akram stabbed his father in the stomach with scissors, police said.
Local people rushed Shahjahan to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Victim's wife Aleya Begum has filed a murder case against her son Akram and Akhi with the Lalbagh Police Station.
Police said Akram and Akhi went into hiding after the incident.
