Training course on disaster risk reduction ends

A three-day training course for the personnel of Oxfam-GB partner organisations working in the River Basin Project (RBP) concluded in the city yesterday, says a press release.
Padakhap Manabik Unnoyan Kendra (PMUK) organised the training course with the assistance of Oxfam-GB.
The objective of the course, held at the training centre of PMUK, was to increase the skill and knowledge of the RBP personnel in disaster risk reduction and bring about positive change in their attitude.
Different aspects of disaster risk, disaster management, disaster risk reduction, early warning and response in Bangladesh were discussed during the training. The gender issues, including the risk reduction of men, women, children, aged persons and persons with disabilities, were highlighted.
Different aspects of Hyogo Framework for action on coping with disaster risk reduction were also highlighted. Bangladesh is a signatory to the Hyogo Framework for action declared in Japan in 2005.
Moloy Chaki, programme Coordinator of Bangladesh Disaster Preparedness Centre (BDPC) conducted the course.
AHM Abdullah, acting director general of Disaster Management Bureau, was the chief guest and K A Jahan Rumi, project officer under RBP of Oxfam-GB, was the special guest. Sohel Ahmed, manager of HR and admin of PMUK, chaired the concluding session.
