Heatwaves: No plan to close secondary schools, colleges

Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Director General Professor Nehal Ahmed today said they don't have any plan to close the secondary schools and colleges due to the severe heatwave.
"We will consider the matter of closing down the schools if the situation deteriorates," he said this afternoon.
He said that authorities closed down all public primary schools considering their age.
"If we close down schools (secondary schools and colleges), it will be tough for us to complete syllabus in proper time," Nehal told The Daily Star.
Today, the government has decided to keep all public primary schools closed from June 5 to June 8 due to the severe heatwave.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said a severe heatwave which is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Naogaon, Nilphamari and Dinajpur is likely to continue.
Meanwhile, the mild to moderate heat wave which is sweeping over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions and the parts of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions may continue for a few days.
The mild to moderate heat wave is also affecting Moulvibazar, Chandpur and Noakhali.
The prevailing heatwave in the country is likely to continue further for the next five to six days, the Met office said.
