2 bodies recovered in Tangail

Police recovered the bodies of two motorcyclists beside Dhaka-Tangail highway in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail this morning.

The deceased are Masud Rana (30) of Shantinagar village under Chilmari upazila of Kurigram district and Mamun Miah (32) of Chanbari village under Kotwali Police Station in Rangpur district.

Masud worked at a garments factory in Gazipur while Mamun was an agent of flexiload and bKash in Chakraborty area of the same district, said police.

When contacted, Shahinul Islam Fakir, additional superintendent of police in Tangail, told The Daily Star that injury marks were seen on their throats. The reasons behind the deaths can be ascertained after an autopsy.

Locals found their bodies floating in the flood waters along the highway in Sohagpara area around 7:00am. On information, police and fire service members recovered the bodies.

Police also seized their motorcycle, clothes and a bag from the spot.

Family sources said Masud and Mamun were returning to their workplace by motorcycle after the Eid holidays.

They were either victims of hijacking or they met with an accident, said family members.
