Factory worker dies in bizarre 'accident'
In what police say may have been an accident, a teenage tile factory worker died after a colleague pumped air into his rectum using a high pressure hose.
Russell, 18, died in a hospital in Bogra around 1:15pm, about six hours after the incident in Kahalu upazila yesterday.
Abdul Jalil, additional police superintendent of Bogra said the victim told him that no foul play was intended in the incident.
It happened in the morning, at the end of a night shift, when Rubel, 22, another worker of the factory, and Russell were using the air hose to remove dust stuck to their bodies, Jalil said.
The workers were probably helping each other.
Kahalu police have detained Rubel and are further investigating the matter, said Officer-in-charge Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui.
As Russell fell sick after the incident, his colleagues took him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hopsital where he died hours later, said the OC.
