DU fine arts faculty brings out Mangal Shobhajatra 1430

The faculty of fine art of Dhaka University (DU) brought out their iconic Mangal Shobhajatra to usher in the Bangla year 1430 this morning.
The theme of this year's procession is "Borisho dhora majhe shantiro bari," a line from a famous Rabindra Sangeet.

The procession began at the Charukola premises around 9:00am and ended around 9:30am after going around the Shahbagh area, reports our staff correspondent from the spot.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman, and DU Fine Art Dean Professor Nisar Hossain participated in the procession.

Besides teachers, students and people from all walks of life participated in the joyous and colourful procession.
The six main art structures seen in this year's procession were tepa putul, bluebuck, tiger, peacock, elephant and sheep.

At the very front of the procession were some paper-mache pigeons, considered the symbols of peace. Then there was the tepa putul made in the form of mother and child.
Teachers and students of the fine art faculty of DU have been organising Mangal Shobhajatra to welcome the Bangla new year since 1989.

Today in continuation of that, the 68th batch of the faculty organised the Mangal Shobhajatra 1430.
