Govt eyes profound transformation through budget

In his budget speech, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed put emphasis on reshaping Bangladesh into a nation free from poverty, unemployment, and carbon dependency. 

Grounded in the spirit of the July Uprising, the budget seeks to restore economic stability while fostering a just and sustainable society.

With the aim of restoring economic stability and building a better society, the core objective of the measures the government has undertaken is to establish a society with zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero carbon emissions, the finance adviser said. 

"Through this, we seek to bring about a profound transformation in the quality of life for our people and to break free from the vicious cycle of inequality."

The aspirations at the heart of the July Uprising laid the foundation for this vision, Ahmed said.

"We hope to leave behind a beautiful, livable homeland for future generations and to usher in a far-reaching wave of change in the lives of our people," he said, adding "With that vision in mind, we have tried to shape this year's budget."
