Dhaka stocks continue gaining
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose slightly today, stretching the gains to the third consecutive session.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse in Bangladesh, inched up 5 points, or 0.07 per cent, at 6,415.
However, turnover, an important indicator of the market, fell by 15 per cent to Tk 1,275 crore which was Tk 1,512 crore in the previous session.
The DS30, the blue-chip index, went up 1.9 per cent at 1,401, while the DSES, the Shariah-complaint index, rose 8 per cent at 2,252.
Of the securities, 62 advanced, 91 declined, and 213 remained the same.
Chartered Life Insurance Company topped the gainers' list with a 10 per cent rise. Pragati Life Insurance, Genex Infosys, Bashundhara Paper Mills, and Sinobangla Industries also rose over 9 per cent.
Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing Co suffered the highest correction, sliding more than 7 per cent. Hakkani Pulp & Paper Mills, Ratanpur Steel Re-Rolling Mills, Bangladesh Building Systems, and Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa were also on the top losers' list.
Meanwhile, the Chittagong Stock Exchange edged down today, snapping yesterday's gains.
The Caspi, the all-share price index of the port city bourse, lost 26 points, or 0.13 per cent to end at 18,918.
Of the issues, 54 advanced, 79 declined, and 101 did not show any price movement.
