Stocks open higher
The stock market in Bangladesh opened higher today as most shares advanced, building on yesterday's gains, which snapped the four-day declining trend.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose 46 points, or 0.72 per cent, to 6,420 at 12:00 pm. Turnover stood at Tk 467 crore.
Of the securities, 256 advanced, 75 declined while 48 remained unchanged.
United Insurance gained the most, rising 10 per cent. Meghna Insurance, Express Insurance, Dominage Steel Building Systems, and Fareast Finance also advanced significantly.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also rose: the CASPI, the prime index of the bourse in the port city, jumped 70 points, or 0.37 per cent, to 18,843.
