Gold prices reduced further
Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus) today reduced the price of gold for the second time in the last three weeks.
Price of the precious metal has been cut by 1.26 per cent or Tk 1,167 a bhori, which will reduce pressure on the wallets of customers buying gold ornaments.
With the latest cut, a customer will be able to buy one bhori of 22-carat gold (11.664 grammes) at Tk 91,095, down from Tk 92,263 which was made effective on February 5 this year.
The new prices will become effective from tomorrow, the Bajus said in a press release.
The rate was re-fixed as the prices of pure gold declined in the domestic market, it said.
The Bajus had been hiking the price of gold since October 24 last year, when it last slashed the price of the metal, popularly used by people of all walks of life in the form of ornaments.
The association kept prices of silver unchanged at Tk 147 per gramme of 22 carat silver.
