4 held with fake notes worth Tk 32 lakh in Dhaka

Detectives today claimed to have arrested four people on charges of money counterfeiting during a drive at Kallyanpur area in Dhaka.

A stash of printed fake notes worth Tk 32 lakh from their possession, DMP Deputy Commissioner (media) Masudur Rahman told The Daily Star.

Acting on a tip off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) - West arrested the four suspects from a tea stall around 10:30pm last night, the police official said.

The arrestees were identified as Jasim Morol, 30, Abjul Jalil 28, Shri Sagar alias Ripon Das, 30, and Jalal Uddin, 28.

During primary investigation, the detainees admitted to making and selling fake currencies of different countries including Bangladesh for the last five-six years, the police official also said.

A case has been filed with Mirpur Police Station in this connection, he added.
