Allegations of sexual harassment against 5 cops

A woman today filed a complaint case with a Dhaka court bringing allegations of sexual abuse against five policemen, including the officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station.

Judge Shafiul Azom of Second Tribunal for Women and Children Repression Prevention took partial witness deposition today and is likely to deliver a verdict in this regard tomorrow after recording complete witness deposition.

The accused are: OC Aboni Shangkar Kar, Sub-Inspector Md Jasim, Assistant Sub-Inspector Md Jamal, constable Debashish and Sub-Inspector Abdul Kader of Mugda Police Station.

In her appeal, the complainant mentioned that her younger brother Imran Hossain married SI Kader’s daughter, but the policeman did not accept the marriage. Later, SI Kader lodged a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.

Out of grudge, on November 3, 2015 the accused also tried to sexually abuse her in Jatrabari Police Station, the complainant claimed.

When contacted, OC Aboni Shangkar said he is not aware of any such allegations and if there is any, they are beseless. He claimed he is not involved in any kind of sexual abuse.
