CU halls raided; sharp weapons seized
Some sharp weapons were seized from four residential halls of Chittagong University last night following a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus.
Additional Superintendent of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (North) Moshiuddoula Reza said they raided Shah Jalal, Shah Amanat, Shaheed Abdur Rab and Shaheed Suhrawardy halls last night.
During the raid, police recovered some locally-made weapons and three to four sacks of brick chips, the police official said.
Confirming the raid, CU Proctor Prof Monirul Hasan said none was arrested as the residents were not present at the room during the drive.
At least 10 BCL men were injured in the clashes among followers of CU BCL unit President Rezaul Haque Rubel and former deputy office secretary Mizanur Rahman Bipul on November 28 and 29, according to UNB.
