Ekushey book fair: Rains damage thousands of books
The heavy rain this morning took a massive toll on the book stalls and damaged thousands of books at the Ekushey book fair.
Book stall owners rushed to the fair grounds early in the morning to find many of their stalls damaged and many books lying in puddles of water, our photojournalist reports from the spot.
One book seller, Kamrul, told The Daily Star that better measures need to be taken to protect the bookfair stalls from rains in the upcoming years or else the owners will have to count such losses regularly.
Dhaka witnessed 19 millimetre rain in three hours from 6:00am to 9:00am, causing immense suffering to the city dwellers.
