Explosion at police box: Doctors think man died in suicide blast

The man killed in a bomb blast near a police box at the Airport intersection in Dhaka yesterday seems to have died in the suicide blast, doctors said after carrying out an autopsy on his body today.
“We found two wires in his hand and splinters all over his body. The body parts were scattered,” Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of the forensic department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said while replying to reporters after conducting the autopsy.
“We found severe bomb injuries on his back,” the doctor added.
“We also collected viscera and DNA samples from his body for different other tests,” he said.
The man aged between 30 and 32 was killed when a bomb attached to his waist exploded near the police box at the Airport intersection yesterday, according to police.
Hours after the incident, Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the blast. Terrorism monitoring group SITE Intelligence citing IS's mouthpiece Amaq news agency reported it as “suicide bombing”.
