Fire at Mohammadpur slum, 35 shanties gutted
At least 35 shanties were gutted in a fire that broke out in slum of Dhaka’s Mohammadpur early today. No casualties were reported.
The fire broke out in the Water Development Board slum adjacent to Dhaka Udyan around 1:20am, said an official of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
A lamp was the cause of fire, Atiqul Alam, an inspector of fire service headquarters, told The Daily Star. “About 35 shanties were gutted in the fire.”
Six fire fighting units doused the flames after two hours of efforts.
