Police recovered bodies of a mother and her two daughters from a government quarter near Mirpur Bangla College in Dhaka this evening.

The deceased -- Jesmin Akhtar, 35, her girls Hasiba Tasnim Hishi, 4 and Hadiba Tasnim Himi, 9, -- used to live at a four-storey building of the quarter, Md Jahingir Alam, assistant commissioner of police (Darussalam zone), told The Daily Star.

Jesmin's husband and her brother first broke open the door of his residence and found the bodies lying on the floor in pools of blood around 5:30pm, the AC said.

The police official said they suspected that the mother might have killed her two daughters and then took her life with a sharp weapon.

"Jesmin might have committed suicide after killing her daughters. But, the real facts behind the incident could be known after investigation," he added.
