Muggers looted Tk1.20 lakh after stabbing a fruit trader at Dayaganj intersection in Dhaka city early today.

Victim Yusuf Ali, 45, is now receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of the hospital’s police camp.

Yusuf is a resident of Sayedabad Janapada intersection in Dhaka city.

A group of four muggers on two motorcycles intercepted a rickshaw carrying Yusuf in the area and snatched away Tk1.20 lakh from his possession while he was going to Badamtali for purchasing fruits around 5:30am, a news agency UNB reports quoting his wife Shahinur.

The muggers also stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rushed him to DMCH for treatment.
