Jubo League man beaten up in Ctg, 5 held
An activist of Jubo League has been beaten up mercilessly by a group of his rival men in broad daylight with sticks and iron rods in Chattogram’s Akbar Shah area.
After the incident, police arrested five youths in this connection while a CCTV footage of the incident went viral in social media this morning.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Akbar Shah Police station Jasim Uddin said the incident took place at Al-Hera Masjid Lane of Biswa Colony around 5:00 pm yesterday when Md Saju and six others beat up Md Mohsin, 25 who introduces himself as a Jubo League activist in the colony.
There has been a longstanding rivalry between two local groups and over this rivalry, Saju and his men went to the area and beat Mohsin indiscriminately after knocking him down on the ground, said the OC.
Soon after the incident, police detained five including Saju after seeing a CCTV footage of the incident, added the OC.
The other arrestees are Md Masud, 18, Md Miraz, 20, Md Belal, 20, and Md Tarek, 18.
The footage which went viral on Facebook shows that Mohsin was trying to escape when a group of seven youths swooped on him with sticks and iron bars.
The footage also shows the youths started beating him after knocking him down on the ground. A youth was seen holding a leg of Mohsin while the rest of them were seen beating him.
