Jubo League man shot dead in Jamalpur
A Jubo League leader was shot dead and three others were injured in an attack allegedly by supporters of Awami League-rebel candidate of upazila election in Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur last night.
Deceased Abdul Khalek, 45, of Dalbari village in Dewanganj, was supporter of the Al-backed candidate Abul Kalam Azad, said Dewanganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminul Islam.
Khalek was a member of Jubo League upazila unit’s convener committee, our Jamalpur correspondent reports quoting the OC.
The armed supporters of rebel candidate Solaiman Hossain attacked Khalek and other members of his group around 11:30pm in Chukaibari area after they finished campaigning for Azad in the night.
The injured-- Muslim, 40, Rubel, 30 and Anar Ali, 48, were admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital while two others were admitted to Dewanganj Upazila Health Complex, the OC added.
A murder case was filed against 31 people including Solaiman with the local police station.
