Paediatric ICU opens at CMCH
A 10-bed paediatric intensive care unit was inaugurated at Chittagong Medical College Hospital yesterday to provide treatment to critically ill children over 28 days old.
Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin formally inaugurated the paediatric ICU in CMCH's Child Health Ward.
The paediatric ICU is a joint initiative of CMCH and PHP Group, said CMCH Director Brig Gen Khondakar Shahidul Ghani, adding that around Tk 3 crore was spent to set it up.
"The hospital already had adult and neonatal ICUs, and now it has an ICU for children over 28 days old," said Ghani, adding that it would save the lives of many poor children.
Sufi Mizanur Rahman, chairman of PHP Group, said they extended their hand in establishing the paediatric ICU as a part of their social responsibility.
