Bus kills BADC official in Farmgate

A man was killed after a bus hit him in the capital's Farmgate area yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Sirajul Islam, 55, an assistant accountant of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), police said.

"A bus of Shikor Paribahan hit Sirajul,” Sub-inspector Amirul Islam of Tejgaon Police Station said.

The incident took place at 8:00am when a bus hit Siraj while he was standing near Ananda Cinema Hall, said his brother-in-law Shafiqur Rahman, leaving him seriously injured.

Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital from where he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 11:45am, said Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.

Sirajul used to live with his family in East Rajabazar area, Shafiqur added. Police seized the bus and detained the driver and a case was filed in this connection.
