Police, Ansar clash in Dhaka
A group of Bangladesh Ansar members, demanding their remuneration of yesterday’s city polls duty, blocked a major road in the capital this evening, leading to a clash with the police at Mirpur.
Sub-Inspector Habib of Darus Salam Police Station told The Daily Star that the agitated Ansar men have blocked the Mazar road in the capital’s Technical intersection around 7:30pm to press home their demand.
Vehicular movement was stopped on the road due to the agitation, the SI said.
Officer-in-Charge of the station said a clash ensued between the agitated Ansar men and police as the latter asked the former to leave the road.
Police fired four rounds of blank shots as the Ansar men threw brick bats at the police, the OC said. No one was injured in the incident, he added.
In the latest development, vehicular movement resumed after the agitated Ansar men left the road around 9:30pm, the OC told The Daily Star.
