Senior citizen dies in Dhaka following assault
A former land officer has been killed in Dhaka, allegedly following a scuffle over loud music at a function.
The deceased was identified as Nazimul Haque, 65, a flat owner at RK Mission Road in Dhaka.
His daughter Nafisa Nazneen Haque claimed that about 10 to 11 people beat her, her father, and brother up in the morning following an altercation after Nazimul Haque complained over loud music at the rooftop of an adjacent apartment building last night.
She identified one of the “assaulters” as Altaf, the host of the programme at the apartment.
“We rushed our father, a heart disease patient who underwent bypass surgery, to nearby Ajgor Ali Hospital where the doctors declared him dead,” Nafisa Nazneen told The Daily Star.
Wari Police detained eight persons with connection to the incident including Altaf, Officer-in-Charge of Wari police station, Rafikul Islam, told The Daily Star this afternoon.
“The CCTV footage shows Nazimul Haque falling to the ground after receiving punches and blows from Altaf and his relatives,” the OC of Wari police added.
The dead body was taken to Sir Salimullah Medical College for autopsy.
