Gang culture will be uprooted: DMP chief
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah today vowed to uproot gang culture including teenage gang from Dhaka.
The DMP chief came up with the remark today after inspecting the security measures at Hosni Dalan in Old Dhaka ahead of the Ashura, major religious festival of Shia muslims.
“No gang culture will exist in Dhaka,” Asaduzzaman Miah said adding that law enforcers will uproot teenage gang groups.
No one would be let to create chaos in Tajia procession in the name of teenage gang during Ashura on Tuesday, he said.
Meanwhile, the DMP chief said no sharp weapons like razors and blades will be allowed in Tajia procession, the traditional procession brought out during Ashura where Shia muslims cut themselves with knives and blades to mark the martyrdom of Hussein at Karbala.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police chief also assured a foolproof security for the occasion this year to avert subversive activities.
