2 CU teachers suspended, reinstated after half an hour
Two teachers including the chairman of Sanskrit department of Chittagong University were suspended by the university authority this afternoon for their alleged irregularities while discharging their duties during examination.
However, in a surprise move they were reinstated half an hour into their suspension, our CU correspondent reports.
Suptikana Mazumdar, chairperson of Sanskrit Department, and Shipak Krisna Devnath, a teacher of the same department, were momentarily suspended.
The suspension order was signed by Deputy Registrar (administration) Shamsul Alam in the afternoon but half an hour later the suspension order was withdrawn by the authority.
The Registrar (acting) KM Nur Ahmed said the teachers were reinstated as the allegations against them were not so serious.
Asked, why they were suspended if their allegations were not serious, the Registrar said adding that there might be a mistake.
He said the university authority also formed a committee for further investigation regarding the matter.
