7 returnees from India sent to institutional quarantine in Brahmanbaria
Seven Bangladeshis, who returned from India today through Akhaura border of Brahmanaria under special arrangement, have been sent to institutional quarantine in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The seven Bangladeshis --six men and one woman -- reached Akhaura this noon using the Agartala Integrated check post of India, said M Imtiaz Ahmmed, district intelligence officer (DIO-1) of the Special Branch of Brahmanbaria police.
He said a representative team of the district health department sent the seven returnees directly to institutional quarantine at Bijoynagar Upazila Health Complex after they reached Akhaura from India.
They were taken to the institutional quarantine as suspected coronavirus patients and their samples will be collected soon, said the official.
The returnees are residents of different areas of Brahmanbaria, Kishoreganj, Cumilla and Dhaka, our Brahmanbaria correspondent reports quoting the official.
The Bangladeshi nationals got stranded in different parts in India due to the country's 21-day lockdown over the outbreak of coronavirus.
