3 Noakhali ‘Razakars’ sent to jail
A tribunal in Dhaka today sent three war crimes accused of Noakhali to jail after police produced them before it.
International Crimes Tribunal-1 led by Justice Anwarul Haque fixed October 14 for passing the next order in this case.
The three accused are: Amir Ahmad alias Razakar Amir Ali, 70, Md Joynal Abedin, 73, and Mohammad Yusuf, 60.
The three were arrested yesterday after the tribunal issued an arrest warrant against five alleged Razakars for their involvement in crimes against humanity in Sudharam upazila during the 1971 Liberation War.
Prosecutor Zahid Imam told the court that police are trying to arrest two other “Razakars” – Abul Kalam alias AKM Mansur, 67, of Nandanpur; and Md Abdul Kuddus, 84, of Laxminarayanpur of the upazila.
Yesterday, three charges were pressed against them over the killing of at least 111 people in three incidents.
