4 of a family burnt in gas explosion

At least four members of a family including a minor boy were burnt in an explosion at a house in Fatullah area of Narayanganj early today.

Victims Monir Hossain, 35, his wife Minara Begum, 30, their sons Minhaz, 5, and Rimon, are now undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Md Sharfuddin, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Fatullah Model Police Station.

The explosion occurred when Minara sparked a match stick to light a gas burner around 5:00am, our Narayanganj correspondent said quoting the ASP said.

According to primary investigation, the gas accumulated in the ground floor of the four-story building in Pashchim Tallabari area due to leakage of a gas line, police said.
