Four persons of a family suffered burn injuries as miscreants hurled acid on them at Rupnagar in Dhaka's Mirpur area this morning.

Among the injured, Mahfuza Akter Subarna, her daughter Rima and sister Nilufar -- were rushed to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 7:00am, said Mozammel Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of DMCH police outpost.

Subarna's husband also sustained minor injuries during the attack, the OC said.

But the couple gave contradictory statements over the attack, the police officer said.

Subarna claimed that her husband hired two miscreants to carry out the attack on her and her daughter over a family dispute, the OC said.

Denying the allegation, Suruj said the miscreants riding a CNG-run auto-rickshaw came to their house around 6:00am and looked for his wife Subarna.

As he showed them inside the house, they made the attack, the OC quoted the husband as saying.

Suruj was later detained, the police official added.
