40 gold bars seized at Sylhet airport
Customs officials seized 40 gold bars worth around Tk 2 crore from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet this morning.
The gold bars weighing 4.60 kilogrammes were found in a box underneath a seat of the flight that came from Dubai, our local correspondent reports quoting Ahsan Ullah, an assistant commissioner of customs.
No arrest was made in this connection, he said.
The flight-BG 248 was supposed to land at Sylhet airport earlier in the day due to bad weather it landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. Later it landed at Sylhet airport around 11:00am, the customs official said.
