Dhaka-Ctg train journey in 2hrs
Bangladesh Railway today inked a deal to design a train line that will be able to make the journey between Dhaka and port city Chittagong in just two hours.
The deal was signed with a consortium of two companies for feasibility study and detail design for the first-ever high-speed train service.
The contract worth Tk 102 crore was signed between Bangladesh Railway and the consortium consisting of China Railway Design Corporation from China and local Mazumder Enterprise.
Rail Minister Mujibul Haque was present during the signing at Rail Bhaban.
As per the contract condition, the consortium has to complete the feasibility study within 18 months.
Once the project is implemented the rail line will be cut short about 90 kilometres and it will take only upto two hours to reach Chittagong from Dhaka, Railways Minister Mujibul Haque said.
