Rail to link Ishwardy with Rooppur nuke plant
A railway link will be constructed to link the under-construction Rooppur nuclear power plant, Bangladesh’s only nuke project, with Pabna’s Ishwardy.
Bangladesh Railway today signed a Tk 29,755 lakh contract with an Indo-Bangla joint-venture company in this regard – to construct the rail link in 18 months.
Mojibur Rahman, general manager (West) of Bangladesh Railway, signed on behalf of the railway. Suvash Chandra Hawlader, managing director of Standard Engineers Ltd, signed on behalf of the joint venture company -- Standard Engineers Ltd, Castle Construction Ltd of Bangladesh, and GTP Infra Project Ltd of India.
Railways Minister Muzibul Hoque was present as the chief guest while Railways Secretary Mofazzel Hossain presided over the programme.
