BGB-BSF conference begins Monday
A director general level conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to begin on Monday in New Delhi.
With Bangladesh putting emphasis on zero border killings, BGB Director General Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed will led a 22-member delegation while BSF DG Shri DK Pathak will lead a 24 member delegation.
The Bangladesh delegation will leave Dhaka for Delhi tomorrow to attend the conference, scheduled to be held between August 3 and 6.
This is the first DG Level Border Co-ordination Conference after the historic visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh.
Other issues to be placed by Bangladesh for discussion include human trafficking, smuggling of firearms and contraband drugs, taking consent of the bordering country before erecting any structure within 150 yards of the international boundary and preserving banks of the bordering rivers, BGB officials said.
A Joint Record of Discussions between the BGB and BSF DGs is expected to be signed on the concluding session of the four-day border conference that will be ended on August 6.
