BNP terms PM’s remarks on Khaleda ‘baseless’

BNP today described Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's remark accusing Khaleda Zia of conspiring from abroad to tarnish the country’s image through killing foreigners as “baseless and fabricated”.

During a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office this afternoon, BNP spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon also urged the prime minister to refrain from making such remarks for the greater interest of the country.

“We urge her [Sheikh Hasina] to refrain from making such baseless remarks,” said Ripon, also the party’s foreign affairs secretary.

“Everybody knows the BNP chairperson is staying in London for treatment. But leaders of the ruling Awami League are making baseless remarks against Khaleda Zia,” Ripon alleged.

Earlier yesterday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of the ruling Awami League, told a public rally at Kurigram Govt College ground that Khaleda was “conspiring from abroad to tarnish the country's image through killing foreigners”.

Terming the remarks as “politics of vengeance”, Ripon also observed that the new generation will lose their attraction in politics if such trend is continued.
