Businessman fined for using chemical to ripen mangoes
A mobile court today fined a businessman Tk 1 lakh for using a harmful chemical to ripen 250 kilogrammes of mangoes in Baghatipara upazila of Natore.
Mobile court Magistrate Forhad Ali caught businessman Shahadat Hossain red handed while applying Potassium Carbide on 250 kilograms of Langra and Khirsa mangoes near Baghatipara Degree College.
According to Khalilur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Natore, Langra mangoes are not to be plucked up before 15 June and Khirsha not before 12 June.
“Local administration has been campaigning in the area regarding this,” reports our correspondent quoting the DC.
