Derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu: 2 held

A former municipality mayor and an incumbent councillor of Bandarban were detained yesterday on charge of making derogatory comments on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Mizanur Rahman Biplob, a former mayor, and Habibur Rahman Khokon, the incumbent councillor of Bandarban municipality were arrested from their houses in the town, said Amir Hossain, investigation officer (IO) of Bandarban Sadar Police Station.

A case will be filed against the duo under Information and Communication Technology (Amendment) Act 2013, the OC said.

Both of them allegedly made the comment demeaning Bangabandhu through Facebook recently, the police official added.
