Gazipur, Rangpur to get metropolitan police

The cabinet today approved draft laws for converting Gazipur and Rangpur police to metropolitan police.

Following today’s cabinet meeting at the secretariat this morning, Bijoy Bhattacharya, additional secretary to the cabinet division, told reporters that the decision was made to provide legal services to the doorsteps of the people.

The drafts will now be sent to the law ministry for vetting, Bijoy added.
