Govt employees involved in question leak: TIB

Transparency International Bangladesh today organised a press conference to reveal their findings in question paper leak of public examinations.

They claim to have found involvement of a quarter of government employees, tuition centres and private stakeholders in the question leak.

Also, the watchdog said they have found allegations of involvement of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student body of ruling Awami League, in it.

Nihar Ranjan Roy and Rumana Sharmin, deputy programme managers (research and policy), revealed the findings in the presser held at the institution’s Dhanmondi office.

“From what we have found, we think it is a growing industry. It has not been possible to determine the business’ actual size,” said Iftekharuzzaman, executive director of TIB.

The research findings show money transaction upto Tk 20,000 taking place in the “business” that has been taking place “for four years since 2012”, TIB report said.

Recommendations placed for the government were to increase the punishment provision that is in place for the existing law in this regard.

Also, TIB suggested to digitalise the entire process from question paper formulation to the distribution of question papers, and reduce the number of steps involved in the intermediate steps.
