Inflation falls slightly in May

The overall inflation rate has dropped by 0.13 percentage point to 6.19 percent in May, thanks to the price fall of food items.

The inflation rate was 6.32 percent in April.

Inflation rate on food items has decreased by 0.25 percentage point to 6.23 percent in May, which was 6.48 percent in the previous month.

On non-food items, inflation rate rose by 0.06 percentage point to 6.14 percent last month from 6.08 percent in the month of April.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said this at a press briefing at his ministry today.
