Man held with 1.16kg gold at Ctg airport
Customs Intelligence seized 10 gold bars weighing 1.16 kilogrammes and detained a person for illegally carrying those at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport last night.
The detainee is Abu Salek, 42, hailing from Lohagora upazila of the district.
Later, he was handed over to Patenga Police Station for further legal action, reports our correspondent quoting Uttam Biswas, assistant director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
Salek came from Saudi Arabia by a Air Arabia flight which landed at the airport at around 9.00pm, the customs official said.
The price of the gold bars is estimated to be Tk 42 lakh and each piece of gold bar weighs 10 tolas, he said.
