Minor boy ‘beaten dead’ in Laxmipur
Yet in another cruel incident, a child worker has been beaten to death allegedly by his employer over destroying liquid milk in the district town.
The deceased was identified as Ramjan Ali, 12, son of Tajul Islam of Banchanagar village in Laxmipur municipality area.
Ramjan succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital last night, eight days after he was beaten at Bagbari in the district town on August 10.
Quoting victim’s parents Tajul Islam and Shukkuri Begum, police said Ramjan Ali used to work on hire in the local bazaar.
On August 10, Ali Hossain Shipon, owner of Saudia Traders and a dealer of Pran Group, hired Ramjan for unloading milk from a vehicle.
At one stage, two cartons of liquid milk fell from his head into the ground.
Angered, Shipon beat Ramjan with a rod mercilessly, leaving him critically injured.
The injured was rushed to a local hospital where doctors referred him to the DMCH following deterioration of his condition. He died at the DMCH last night.
Assistant superintendent of Laxmipur police Nasim Miah said they were investigating the incident and necessary actions will be taken after investigation.
Meanwhile, no one was arrested in this connection.
